Chilliček: A New Magnesium Supplement by Evolved

When we launched Aftershock, the motivation was straightforward. Pre-workouts on the Slovak market were either underdosed, full of unnecessary fillers, or hiding behind proprietary blends. We wanted to build something honest. Transparent label, clinical doses, no junk. That was the whole idea.
What we didn't expect was how many of you would start asking about the other side of training. Not the energy before a session. The recovery after it. The sleep. The cramps at 3am. The feeling of being wired but exhausted at the same time.
So we did what we always do. We read the research. And the research kept pointing to the same mineral.
Why magnesium
Magnesium is involved in over 300 enzymatic processes in the body. Muscle contraction, nerve function, protein synthesis, energy metabolism, sleep regulation. It is not a trendy ingredient. It is one of the most fundamental minerals your body needs to function.
The problem is that an estimated 50 to 80 percent of people in developed countries do not get enough magnesium from diet alone. Modern farming has depleted soil mineral content. Processed food strips it further. Athletes and active people lose additional magnesium through sweat.
You might already know this. You might have already tried a magnesium supplement. And if it didn't work or gave you stomach issues, there is a very specific reason for that.
The magnesium market has the same problem as pre-workouts
Walk into any pharmacy or supplement shop and you will find dozens of magnesium products. Most of them use magnesium oxide. It is the cheapest form to manufacture and it lets brands put big numbers on the label. The issue is that your body absorbs roughly 4 percent of it. The rest passes through your digestive system, which is why cheap magnesium often causes bloating, cramping, and trips to the bathroom.
Some products use magnesium citrate, which is better absorbed but still causes GI discomfort at higher doses. Others mix three or four forms together in small amounts so they can list them all on the label without any of them reaching an effective dose.
Same playbook as underdosed pre-workouts with 15 ingredients at pixie-dust levels. Big labels, small results.
We didn't want to play that game with Aftershock and we are not going to play it with magnesium either.
Why we chose bisglycinate
Magnesium bisglycinate is a chelated form of magnesium. That means each magnesium ion is bound to two molecules of glycine, an amino acid. This bond protects the magnesium from being broken down in the stomach and allows it to be absorbed through amino acid transport pathways in the intestine rather than competing with other minerals.
The result is roughly five times better absorption compared to magnesium oxide.
But absorption is only part of the story. The glycine itself matters. Glycine is an inhibitory neurotransmitter. It acts on glycine receptors in the brain and promotes a calming effect. Research has shown that glycine supplementation before bed can improve subjective sleep quality and reduce feelings of fatigue the next day. When you take magnesium bisglycinate, you get the benefits of both the magnesium and the glycine working together.
There is one more advantage. Bisglycinate is one of the few magnesium forms that crosses the blood-brain barrier effectively. This means it can support the central nervous system directly, not just muscles and bones. For sleep, stress, and mental relaxation, this matters.
And unlike oxide or citrate, bisglycinate is gentle on the stomach. No bloating. No cramping. No urgency. You can take it before bed without worrying about GI discomfort keeping you up.
What about other forms?
| Form | Absorption | Stomach tolerance | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bisglycinate | High | Excellent | Sleep, relaxation, recovery |
| Citrate | Moderate | Fair | General supplementation |
| Oxide | Very low (~4%) | Poor | Laxative effect |
| Taurate | Moderate-high | Good | Cardiovascular support |
We considered all of them. Bisglycinate was the clear winner for what our customers were asking for: better sleep, faster recovery, and less muscle tension.
What is in it. And what is not.
Chilliček contains two active ingredients per serving:
- Magnesium bisglycinate 1500mg (providing elemental magnesium for 100% of the recommended daily allowance)
- Vitamin B6 as P-5-P 1.4mg (the active form your body can use directly, not the cheap pyridoxine HCl that needs to be converted by the liver)
Vitamin B6 in the P-5-P form is included because it plays a direct role in magnesium absorption and transport into cells. It also supports GABA synthesis, which reinforces the calming effects of the magnesium and glycine.
That is it. Two ingredients, both at meaningful doses, both in their most effective forms.
What you will not find in Chilliček:
- No artificial colors
- No unnecessary fillers or bulking agents
- No proprietary blends
- No hidden doses
The flavor is Mixed Berries. Each tub contains 550g, which gives you 110 servings at 5g per scoop. At that serving count, a single tub lasts over three and a half months of daily use.
We put everything on the label because that is what we believe in. You should know exactly what you are putting in your body and how much.
Who is Chilliček for?
Honestly, almost anyone who is physically active or deals with stress. Magnesium deficiency is that widespread. But here are the groups that will notice the biggest difference:
Athletes and gym-goers. If you train regularly, you lose magnesium through sweat and increased metabolic demand. Low magnesium means worse recovery, more cramps, and disrupted sleep. All of which hurt your next session.
People with muscle cramps. Night-time leg cramps, calf cramps during training, that twitch in your eyelid that won't stop. These are classic signs of magnesium deficiency. Bisglycinate addresses the root cause rather than masking the symptom.
Anyone who struggles to wind down. If your body is tired but your mind keeps racing at night, magnesium bisglycinate can help. The combination of magnesium and glycine supports GABA activity in the brain, which helps shift your nervous system from sympathetic (fight-or-flight) to parasympathetic (rest-and-digest).
People who tried cheap magnesium and gave up. If magnesium oxide or citrate gave you stomach problems, bisglycinate is a different experience entirely. The chelated form is absorbed through a different pathway and does not cause the GI issues associated with cheaper forms.
How it works alongside Aftershock
We designed Chilliček to complement Aftershock, not replace it. They serve different purposes at different times of day.
Morning or pre-training: Aftershock. Citrulline for blood flow. Caffeine paired with L-theanine for clean energy and focus. Lion's mane and rhodiola for cognitive performance. Creatine for strength.
Evening or post-training: Chilliček. Magnesium bisglycinate for muscle relaxation and nervous system support. Glycine for calming the mind. Vitamin B6 (P-5-P) for absorption and GABA synthesis. This is your recovery and wind-down formula.
Think of it as two halves of a complete cycle. Aftershock helps you perform. Chilliček helps you recover. Training breaks your body down. Sleep and recovery build it back stronger. If you are only optimizing the performance side and ignoring the recovery side, you are leaving progress on the table.
You can absolutely use Chilliček on its own. It works independently. But if you already use Aftershock, adding Chilliček in the evening closes the loop on your daily supplement routine.
A typical day
| Time | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 30 min before training | Aftershock | Energy, focus, pump, cognitive performance |
| Post-training or 30 min before bed | Chilliček | Muscle recovery, relaxation, deep sleep |
One scoop of each. That is the whole protocol.
The name
You might be wondering about the name. "Chilliček" is a play on the Slovak/Czech word "chilliť" (to chill, to relax). The "-ček" suffix makes it a diminutive. It is casual and friendly on purpose. We are not trying to sound clinical. This is a product for your evening routine, not a lab experiment.
What we are not going to tell you
We are not going to tell you that Chilliček will transform your life overnight. Magnesium supplementation works best with consistent daily use. Most people notice improvements in sleep quality within the first one to two weeks. Muscle cramps often improve faster. The full effects on stress and nervous system regulation build over four to six weeks.
We are also not going to pretend that a supplement replaces the basics. Sleep hygiene, reasonable training volume, proper nutrition, managing stress. These matter more than any product. But if you are doing those things and still dealing with poor sleep, cramps, or an inability to relax, a quality magnesium supplement in the right form can make a real difference.
That is what Chilliček is. Magnesium done right. Honest label, effective form, proper dose.
